Castle Isalnd Boston Harbor

Finally edited some fun moments from our time at Castle Island in Boston at the start of the Summer as we prepare for our last work trip of Summer 2025.

Castle Island was such a nice change of pace during our time in Boston. It’s a waterfront park in South Boston with walking paths, views across Boston Harbor, Pleasure Bay, and the historic Fort Independence. Between the harbor breeze, watching the boats and planes go by, and just having some time to slow down by the water, it ended up being one of those simple moments from the trip that I’m really glad we captured.

Now we’re headed to NYFW this week, which is a total pinch-me moment, but everything that could go wrong has gone wrong so far.

First, some custom outfits we ordered forever ago underwent shipping delays. At first, we didn’t think they would arrive in time. When they finally did, we were hit with a 50% tariff, which made clearing customs and getting them delivered cost more than the outfits themselves. We only had about 24 hours’ notice to pay it, so it was a pretty unexpected expense we really didn’t need.

And it gets worse. Some of the measurements were wrong, so half of the order won’t even work, and there’s no time for alterations at this point.

On top of that, our A/C stopped working, and we haven’t really slept in the last 48ish hours because of the heat.

When things aren’t going the way we intended, it’s easy to get overly frustrated, and I tend to throw myself even further into work. But taking a moment to finally edit these clips from Castle Island reminded me how lucky I am to have these problems when things could be so much worse.

A few months ago, we were walking around Boston Harbor, taking in the views and enjoying a beautiful summer day together. Now we’re getting ready to head to New York Fashion Week. Even with all the stress surrounding this trip, that perspective isn’t lost on me.

Luckily, I’m in a place where I can navigate these issues and more. It’s not fun, but life is all about balance of the bad days and the good days, and we’re all just trying our best.

Everything with the trip this week may not go how we intended, but we’ll still put our best foot forward and bring our A-game nonetheless.

Wish us luck, and if you’re planning a trip to Boston, have questions about Castle Island or the city, or want recommendations based on what we enjoyed during our visit, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to share what we learned, where we went, and what I’d recommend doing differently or adding to your own trip!
