Trusting Yourself Is The Smartest thing You’ll Ever Do
When I look back at my 20s, one of the boldest decisions I ever made was walking away from a 'stable' corporate job without having every detail mapped out. People called it risky. Some called me crazy. And honestly? Maybe it was. However, it was also one of the first times I chose to truly start trusting myself fully instead of following the blueprint others handed me and the expectations others had of me.
What no one tells you is how liberating that moment can be. When you stop living for what's acceptable and start building what feels authentic, everything shifts. You begin creating a life that's yours, not one you feel you're supposed to tolerate.
That choice eventually led me here: building a business I love, creating work that feels meaningful, and showing up every day for something bigger than a paycheck. I'm building an intentional life with the love of my life by my side, and it's everything to me.
But here's the honest part no one glamorizes. I now work more hours than any 9-5 I ever had. Entrepreneurship isn't "less work"; it's different work. It's deeper, more personal, and sometimes lonelier. You carry more, but you also get to build and create more. Every challenge is yours, but so is every victory. That fulfillment is worth every late night.
As we acknowledge Small Business Saturday today, it isn't just about shopping local or boosting the economy. It's about recognizing the people behind the scenes. The ones pouring their energy, creativity, and belief into something they hope will make an impact.
Supporting small businesses doesn't always mean spending money. Sometimes the biggest difference comes from small, intentional acts:
Liking and engaging with their content
Sharing their work with others
Sending a kind message or cheering them on
Leaving a review, testimonial, or comment
Reminding them you're proud of what they're doing
These tiny interactions can breathe life back into someone who's doing all of this on their own. Someone who might be struggling quietly, but still showing up with everything they've got by bringing their A-Game!
Entrepreneurship is a beautiful, fulfilling journey, but it's also a vulnerable one. Knowing someone believes in you, even through a simple action, means more than most people realize.
This Small Business Saturday, however you choose to support, with your wallet, your words, or your encouragement, or in your own unique way, please know it truly matters.
To anyone standing at the edge of a big decision, feeling the pull to trust yourself even when others don't understand. It's okay. You're allowed to build a life that makes sense to you. Sometimes the craziest things you do in your 20s become the most meaningful chapters of your life.
